December 20, 2000

Effective December 20, 2000, the Office of Conservation published notice of a complete reorganization of Statewide Order No. 29-B, LAC 43:XIX.129. Such notice was published in the Louisiana Register. Previously, Section 129 provided for the regulation of oilfield related pits, injection/disposal wells, and commercial oilfield waste disposal facilities.

The Office of Conservation is anticipating various amendments of these regulations in the next few months. Additional space is needed to facilitate the proposed changes.

Therefore, this reorganization effort moves the oilfield pit regulations into new Chapter 3, moves the injection/disposal well (underground injection control - UIC) regulations into new Chapter 4, and moves the commercial facility regulations into new Chapter 5, all under Subpart 1, Statewide Order No. 29-B. The cross-reference charts included herewith indicate the new locations for the rules in each existing section. This action will also result in Section 129 being "reserved" for future use.

Interested parties who wish to obtain an official copy of the Section 129 rule reorganization should contact the Louisiana Office of the State Register at 225/342-5015. The rule is also available for review or download from the State Register website. Click here to view the December 2000 Issue of the Louisiana Register (see page 2798).

The reorganized rule will also be published in the September 2001 edition of the Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC - Title 43, Part XIX), which will compile all amendments to Statewide Order No. 29-B promulgated since September 1999.

Please contact Mr. Carroll Wascom at 342-5515 if you have any questions about this action.
