The Geological Oil and Gas Division’s Digital Mapping Section is responsible for GIS support for the various divisions of the Office of Conservation relative to oil and gas well locations and maps, support for the three secions of the Geological Division relative to the hearing process and associated order plat preparation and State Exhibit preparation.

The Digital Mapping Section is also responsible for assistance to the public, government and industry in oil and gas related matters involving well locations and maps. The Digital Mapping Section houses historical maps for both wildcat areas and designated fields as well as other useful maps, and provides access to the Department of Natural Resources SONRIS database and document imaging applications through computers located in
