Gumbo cookoff at Cajun Field on Thursday

The second annual Stone Energy Gumbo Cook-Off to benefit United Way of Acadiana is held Thursday in the parking lot of Cajun Field.

Stone Energy's third annual gumbo cook-off, benefiting United Way of Acadiana, is scheduled for 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday . at Cajun Field.

Admission is $10 for all-you-can-eat gumbo at the family friendly event that includes face-painting for children, a $5 raffle for chances to win a golf cart and several other prizes, and music by Sammy Kershaw.

There will be 108 different types of gumbo. Each team will vie for a 2014 win in the two categories as well as the People's Choice award.

Last year, the cook-off raised more than $166,000.
