Hunters for the Hungry seeking extra venison

Field-dressed deer processed at no charge through statewide network

If you’ve got some extra venison in your freezer as deer season winds down across Louisiana, consider a donation to Hunters for the Hungry.

Founded in the 90s by a group of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts, the organization helps the outdoor community route excess wild game to families who struggle with food security.

Last year, almost 40,000 pounds of protein went directly to children and adults who need it most, especially during the colder months of the year.

And if you shoot a deer after your freezer is already full, just select one of the almost 60 participating processors in the organization’s statewide network – deer are processed at no cost to the hunter, all donations are tax-deductible and hunters can keep select cuts of meat like the backstrap.
