South Louisiana QDMA to host free summer seminar Aug. 6

Event begins at 6 p.m. at LDWF headquarters in Baton Rouge

If your thoughts are already drifting off to cooler days in the deer stand this fall, the South Louisiana Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association is holding its annual Deer and Wildlife Summer Seminar on Aug. 6.

The free event will take place at 6 p.m. at the headquarters of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, located at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge. Registration will begin at 5 p.m.

Among the topics up for discussion will be the LSU AgCenter’s research into toxic bait for feral pigs with Dr. Glen Gentry, as well as information on buck movement in Northeastern Louisiana by Taylor Simoneaux with the University of Georgia.

In addition, LDWF’s Jonathan Bordelon will discuss 2014-15 DMAP harvest results, and Deer Program Manager Scott Durham will address updates and changes for the 2015-16 hunting season.
