Viewing Notices. How to send comments. Comments can be mailed to the address appearing in the Public Notice or emailed to the Project Manager identified on the Public Notice. Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number as well as the permit application number identified on the Public Notice. 

Individuals or parties may request an extension of time in which to comment on the proposed work by writing to the project manager or clicking on the project manager’s name on the public notice grid on the web page.  Any request must be specific and substantively supportive of the requested extension, and received by this office prior to the end of the initial comment period.  The Branch Chief will review the request and the requestor will be promptly notified of the decision to grant or deny the request.  If granted, the time extension will be continuous to the initial comment period and, inclusive of the initial comment period, will not exceed a total of 30 calendar days.

Name of Applicant: St Martin Parish Government, c/o: Sellers & Associates, Inc., 148-B Easy Street, Lafayette, LA 70506.

Location of Work: Beau Bayou Water Management Unit, approximately 14 miles downstream from Butte Larose, Louisiana in St. Martin Parish, (Lat 30.145N, Long -91.595W), as shown on the attached drawings. Project is located in the Atchafalaya Basin Watershed H.U.C. 08080101.

Character of Work: Conduct mechanized clearing, snagging, excavation and placement of spoil material along 9 miles of existing channels within the Beau Bayou Water Management Unit.  Vegetative debris and excessive overgrowth of woody vegetation and trees will be removed all for the purpose of restoring and opening channels for the purpose of restoring water quality, sheetflow, and circulation within the surrounding swamp and opening existing spoil banks to reduce un-natural ponding.

The proposed project will impact the following:

Total Direct Wetland Impacts (Fill, Excavation & Clearing): 51.6 acres

Total Excavation of Wetlands: 10.9 acres; 67,939 Cubic Yards

Total Excavation of Waterbottoms: 27.0 acres; 68,592 cubic yards

Total Fill in Wetlands: 34.1 acres; 102,515 cubic yards

Total Clearing of Forested Wetlands: 6.6 acres; 1,287 cubic yards

The applicant proposes to compensate for all unavoidable, project related impacts to jurisdictional wetlands through the purchase of mitigation credits from a Corps approved mitigation bank.
