Coastwide Reference Monitoring System - Wetlands

State Project Number: CRMS-WETLANDS
Project Priority List (PPL): N/A
Federal Sponsor: United States Geological Survey (USGS)
Project Type: N/A
Construction Completion Date: N/A

Description:

The Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) project involves the creation of hundreds of environmental monitoring sites throughout the Louisiana coastal environment, but intentionally places these sites both inside and outside the boundaries of restoration project areas. At each site, aspects of ecosystem structure and function (including elevation dynamics, vegetative assemblage, and hydrologic parameters) are measured. This information can then used to evaluate the condition of the Louisiana coastal environment at the ecosystem, basin, and restoration project scales, and allows for assessments to be made on the effectiveness of coastal restoration projects (individually and cumulatively).
