Clear Marais Bank Protection

State Project Number: CS-22
Project Priority List (PPL): 02
Federal Sponsor: United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
Project Type: Shoreline Protection
Construction Completion Date: 1997

Description:

The goal of this project is to stabilize six miles of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) channel bank with a rock armored breakwater. A 35,000 foot limestone breakwater was constructed to prevent continued erosion of the levee and to prevent encroachment of the GIWW into the project area. Vegetation plantings were used to enhance the bank protection and promote sediment trapping.
