State Mineral and Energy Board Holds October Meeting

Mineral Lease Sale Brings Approximately $2.7 Million

BATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.

 

The Board collected more than $2.7 million in bonuses in the October sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $10.5 million.  For the calendar year, the total is more than $32.5 million. 

 

At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 17 leases covering more than 7,500 acres, out of 39 nominated tracts covering more than 49,500 acres.

 

The Board sold leases in Calcasieu, De Soto, East Carroll, Iberia, Lafayette, Lafourche, Ouachita, Plaquemines, Red River, St. Landry, West Feliciana and Vermilion parishes.  Of the 17 tracts awarded, 8 were in north Louisiana and 9 were located in the southern parishes.
