State Mineral and Energy Board Holds December Meeting

Lease Sale Brings Approximately $4.1 million

BATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected more than $4.1 million in bonuses in the December sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $16.1 million.  For the calendar year, the total is more than $38.1 million. 

  

At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 25 leases covering more than 14,100 acres, out of 57 nominated tracts covering more than 45,100 acres.

 

The Board sold leases in Caddo, Cameron, Concordia, DeSoto, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Jefferson, Lafourche, Plaquemines, Red River, St. Landry, Tensas, Terrebonne, and Vermilion parishes.  Of the 25 tracts awarded, 4 were in north Louisiana and 21 were located in the southern parishes.
