The Geological Oil and Gas Division's Digital Mapping Section is responsible for providing GIS support for the various divisions of the Office of Conservation relative to oil and gas well locations and maps, and providing support for the three sections of the Geological Division relative to the hearing process and the associated order plat preparation and State Exhibit preparation.

The Digital Mapping Section is also responsible for assistance to the public, government, and industry in oil and gas related matters involving well locations and maps. The Digital Mapping Section houses historical maps for both wildcat areas and designated fields as well as other useful maps, and provides access to the Department of Natural Resources SONRIS database and document imaging applications through computers located in the Digital Mapping Section.  Their office can be found in the LaSalle Building, 9th Floor, Room 970 at 617 North Third St., Baton Rouge, LA.  Directions to the building and instructions for parking can be fround HERE.
