ABP officials celebrate ribbon cutting of walking trail in Henderson

Officials of the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and St. Martin Parish hit the trail recently at the new and improved Henderson Park. The group gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park to commemorate phase one of construction work now completed at the site. The trail includes one-fifth of a mile long and eight feet wide asphalt foundation. This project also consists of improvements to park pavilions. The newer pavilions are constructed of galvanized steel and sheet metal and have fans, enhanced lighting and electricity. The state Department of Transportation and Development, Office of Community Programs provided $100,000 of the funding along with $10,000 each from the DNR Atchafalaya Basin Program and St. Martin Parish.

ABP Director Sandra Thompson, ABP Assistant Director Robert Benoit, St. Martin Parish President Guy Cormier and Henderson Mayor Sherbin Collette joined others for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
