DNR participates in Energy Awareness event


Five City Tour Promotes Propane-Powered School Bus

A month long road show promoting the benefits of propane-powered vehicles and equipment culminated in an expo hosted by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources on November 6, 2008.  Bluebird’s liquid propane-powered school bus tour encompassed 1,500 miles, visited 20 school boards, and had interest from hundreds of fleet managers, purchasing agents, and budget officers.  Before reaching Baton Rouge, the bus stopped in Lake Charles, Eunice, Minden, and New Orleans.

Presenters and sponsors for the tour included the Louisiana Propane Gas Association, ReedGas Propane Company, Ross Bus Sales, Blue Bird Bus Corporation, CleanFUEL USA, and Dixie Chopper.  The Greater Baton Rouge Clean Cities Coalition, the Shreveport Clean Cities Initiative, the Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership, and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Technology Assessment Division’s State Energy Office also contributed in organizing, promoting, and presenting the event.
