Visitors from Kazakhstan will be presented information and lessons on the state's oil and gas industry at the Department of Natural Resources' Office of Conservation on Wednesday, September 10th at 9 a.m. Ten Kazakh delegates, representatives of their country's political sector, will be touring Louisiana this week meeting with government officials as well as backpacking to field trip locations around the state.
DNR's Office of Conservation Assistant Commissioner Jim Welsh has planned a half day-long program for the Kazakh delegates including talks on the regulatory functions of the office. Welsh said that the group wants to learn about the administrative setup of the office and about the state's drilling rules and fees, in addition to oil and gas well permitting in general. They hope to gain knowledge in these areas for improvements and new technologies in their home land.
Welsh said Mobil Oil's Business Resources Corp. officials are coordinating and scheduling the Kazakhs' agenda while in Louisiana.
The Office of Conservation is located on the First Floor of the State Land and Natural Resources Building at 625 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge.
