Did you know that approximately 20% of the electricity consumed in the average household is attributed to lighting? That’s right! By simply switching out inefficient incandescent bulbs with bulbs that have earned the EPA’s ENERGY STAR rating for energy efficiency you can significantly increase savings on your utility bill. “Change the world, start with ENERGY STAR” is a national campaign encouraging all Americans to join with millions of others and take small, individual steps that make a big difference in the fight against global warming. Take the ENERGY STAR pledge:
October 15th Come see for yourself!
DNR will host a lighting demonstration in the lobby of the LaSalle Building in downtown Baton Rouge. Energy savings will be measured when changing from traditional incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent lamps. For more information about CFL’s, visit DNR’s Change a Light link:

Coming in November:
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources cordially invites you to attend our upcoming event to demonstrate and promote propane-powered vehicles and equipment. If you are a fleet manager, purchasing agent, budget officer, or cost conscious consumer, please consider joining us to learn more about how to utilize propane-fueled equipment to save money. This event will be held free of charge.
WHO: Department of Natural Resources, Baton Rouge Clean Cities Coalition, Blue Bird Corporation, Dixie Chopper Mowers, CleanFUEL USA, the Louisiana Propane Gas Association, and ReedGas Propane Company.
WHAT: The DNR, through the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Program, promotes and educates fleet managers, purchasing agents, and other decision makers on different alternative fuel vehicles available for their fleets, which in turn, support energy independence and reduce harmful emissions. The Blue Bird Corporation will be touring several cities in Louisiana with a propanepowered school bus, and the DNR (along with the Greater Baton Rouge Clean Cities Coalition) have put together an event that will show not only the featured bus, but also other propane-powered vehicles, including a Dixie Chopper mower. CleanFUEL USA, and the Louisiana Propane Gas Association will also participate in the event by answering all of your propane fuel related questions.
The activities will include PowerPoint presentations in the theatre, a ride in the school bus, and a demonstration of the grass cutting equipment. Light refreshments will be provided by Blue Bird Corporation and CleanFUEL USA.
