Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005

The Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 offers tax incentives to encourage Americans to save energy.

The Energy Policy Act incentives are federal incentives that are not administered by this state office. At this time the details are still being worked through by Congress and various federal agencies. • The Tax Incentives Assistance Project (TIAP), sponsored by a coalition
  of public interest nonprofit groups, government agencies, and other organizations in the energy efficiency field, is designed to give consumers
  and businesses information they need to make use of the federal income
  tax incentives for energy efficient products and technologies passed by Congress as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
• Summary of Energy Efficiency Tax Incentives in Energy Policy Act of 2005
  A number of states have introduced tax incentives—typically income tax credits or elimination of state sales tax—for the purchase of high-efficiency appliances. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 enacted new federal tax credits for consumers for 2006 and 2007. The link is to a table prepared by American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEE).
