RESNET Proposes Amendment to RESNET Rating Sampling Standard

 

RESNET is proposing amending the disclosure requirement in the rating sampling standard.  NET as Green Raters. Each of the presenters at this training represent a specific green program and all have come together to cooperate and show support for a unified certification. Successful completion of this training will lead to certification by RESNET as a Green RATER.  In order to certify a home under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes program a green rater must inspect and certify the home.

 

Public comments on the draft will be accepted until February 16, 2008.  At the completion of the comment period the RESNET Board will review the comments and revise the proposed standard where appropriate. The standard will then be submitted to the RESNET Amendment Revision Committee that is composed of three representatives of the rating industry and three representatives of state energy offices. The RESNET Board will then consider the recommendations of the revision committee and then vote on whether to adopt the standard.

RESNET Adopts Policy on Raters That Have Not Passed the National Rater Test

 

The RESNET National Home Energy Rating Standards require that all raters that are conducting outside the state of California must have passed the RESNET National Home Rater test by January 1, 2008.

 

The RESNET Board of Directors has adopted the following policy on what accredited rating providers must do with their raters that did not pass the test by the required date:

 

Certified Raters That Have Not Taken the Test

 

Effective February 1, 2008, all accredited rating providers must suspend all certified raters who conduct ratings outside of the state of California who have not passed the RESNET test.  These raters shall not conduct ratings until they have passed the test. 

 

Certified Raters That Took But Did Not Pass the Test

 

Effective February 1, 2008, all accredited rating providers must initiate the first stage of the disciplinary process, probation, on all certified raters who conduct ratings outside of the state of California who have not passed the RESNET test. 

 

By February 15, 2008, each provider shall submit to RESNET the list of raters that are not in compliance with the test requirement.  The terms of the probation for raters that have not passed the test should stipulate that if the rater has not passed the test within 12 weeks the rater will be suspended until he or she passes.
