Marguerite Jones currently works for Austin Energy with the innovative Plug-In Partners National Campaign. A grassroots effort to prove the market for Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Their goals are to Reduce Dependence on Foreign oil, Reduce emissions and she is a long-time leader for environmental justice and children’s advocacy. Marguerite is a founding member of the Austin Safe Pipeline Coalition, which was formed in opposition to the first conversion of a dormant decaying 50-year-old oil pipeline from liquid petroleum to gasoline with no safety enhancements. The Coalition was formed to ensure safety of the citizens along the Longhorn Pipeline corridor. They were successful in bringing together citizens, neighborhoods, environmentalists, farmers and ranchers. She is a member of the National Pipeline Safety Trust. She is currently the Vice Chair of Texas Environmental Democrats, Austin Chapter.

Mrs. Jones also served on the Austin Clean Water Program Advisory Council for the Southeast Corner Alliance of Neighborhoods. She also served as her neighborhood's representative for AISD Bonds Advisory Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Save Barton Creek Association. She is a former PTA President. She is an Alumni of Leadership Austin class of 2001.

Marguerite currently serves as a Board member of Livable City, Vice Chair of Texas Environmental Democrats, Vice Chair of Capitol Area Democratic Women, and League of Women Voters, a member of the National Pipeline Safety Trust, member of Austin Chapter, Austin Clean Water Program Advisory Council for the Southeast Corner Alliance of Neighborhoods. She currently serves on the Board of Save Barton Creek Association, and is a member of South Austin Civic Club.
