Stephanie Pedro

Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership Coordinator

Regional Planning Commission

Stephanie Pedro is the coordinator for the Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership, as well as an urban planner and spatial modeler who conduct analyses of current and future transportation and land use scenarios.   During her short tenure (since September 2007) as Clean Fuel Partnership coordinator, the U.S. Department of Energy has designated New Orleans Metropolitan Region as a ‘Clean City.’  The Clean Fuel Partnership has also helped to stimulate alternative fuel usage in the metro region by identifying fleets interested in using alternative fuel, as well as linking this new demand to fuel distributors and suppliers.   Prior to working at the Regional Planning Commission, Stephanie was a research assistant at Louisiana State University while obtaining her Master of Science in Environmental Studies with a Minor in Disaster Science and Management.  Stephanie has modeled storm surge depth in relation to socioeconomic populations at the LSU Hurricane Center, which also served as her Master’s thesis topic:  Hurricane Vulnerable Populations in Orleans Parish.   Stephanie also worked with the LSU GIS team at the Louisiana Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to provide federal, state and local agencies and emergency responders quick access to data and maps in support of critical hurricane response missions following Hurricane Katrina.
