Terms of Use

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Web Servers are provided as a public service by the State of Louisiana, Department of Natural Resources.

Disclaimer

The information on this Web site has been carefully prepared from the best available sources of data. It is intended for general informational purposes only and should not be considered authoritative for navigational, engineering, other site-specific uses, or any other uses. The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) does not warrant or guarantee its accuracy, nor does DNR assume any responsibility or liability for any reliance thereon.

Privacy

For site management, information is collected for statistical purposes. This system uses software programs to create summary statistics which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.

Personal identification information in an electronic form or an E-mail message containing a question or comment is used to respond to requests or questions. E-mail messages may be forwarded to other government employees who are subject specialists on specific questions.

Users are not required to provide personal information simply to visit DNR Web services or to download information. Government agencies or various services offered on DNR Web services may request personally identifiable information in order to provide requested specialized services, but such information is handled as it would be on an in-person visit to a government office.

We collect no personal information about you unless you voluntarily participate in an activity that asks for information, i.e., sending an E-mail, or completing a form. Personal information includes such things as an individual's name, address, and phone number. A domain name or Internet Protocol address is not considered personal information.

Security

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, DNR Web servers employ industry-standard methods to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on DNR servers are strictly prohibited and may be punishable by law.

DNR Web Site Design and Accessibility

The Web site of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources has been designed for optimal viewing by a wide audience. Graphics are provided to enhance viewability, identification of user location within the Web site map, and overall ease of navigation. ALT tags, which display additional information when hovering over an image, can be read by screen readers and assist in accessibility.

DNR's static Web pages include text, graphics, tables, forms, and JavaScripts which require a browser of the kind/quality/equivalence of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (or above) or Netscape 6 (or above) for proper viewing.

DNR also delivers dynamic Web pages via SONRIS. Database access applications in SONRIS utilize sophisticated Java Applets that require an Internet connection of 56K or higher for proper operation. Also, to access SONRIS Oracle database applications, you will have to download the free JInitiator browser add-on, and for SONRIS document access applications you will have to download the free FileNet Panagon IDM Viewer. Each will be downloaded to your PC from a DNR Web server upon your first usage of those components. Internally, for SONRIS application development and usage, the Department of Natural Resources utilizes Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, available as a free download from Microsoft Corporation's IE 6 Download Web site. DNR recommends Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 2 for optimal usage of SONRIS applications.

Ultimately, the behavior of your screen depends on the particular Web browser program you are using to access these pages, how you have that browser configured, and the size and resolution of your display monitor. Get assistance from your local Web experts if you need help with that program. Many programs have help features built into them which can be displayed by clicking on a help menu selection with your mouse.

Links to External Web Sites

The Department of Natural Resources occasionally provides links to other Web sites for the convenience of its Web site users, but is not responsible for the availability or content of these other sites. DNR does not endorse, warrant or guarantee the information, services or products offered at these sites. Any information, materials, personal opinions, or endorsements of products or services appearing on external sites are not controlled, sponsored, or approved by DNR.
