DNR and Mineral Board Tour Denver Energy Companies

Tuesday, April 3, 2007

Mineral Board Secretary Marjorie McKeithen, Commissioner of Conservation Jim Welsh, OCRM Deputy Assistant Secretary David Fruge, and Mineral Board member Carol LeBlanc visited three energy companies located in Denver, Colorado in March.

All are shown here in a photo taken while on their business tour, March 7-8, 2007. McKeithen presented recognition awards to oil and gas companies who have been top investors in Louisiana. In this photo, she presents the Secretary’s Award to Petrogulf Corporation’s President Douglas McLeod.

Meetings were also held with Aspect Energy, LLC and Forest Oil Corporation. The chief executives and heads of their regulatory, operations, and land management offices attended.

Forest Oil, the largest of the three companies, has principle reserves and producing properties in Louisiana, Alaska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Canada, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories.

“Our purpose for these visits is three-fold: to thank the companies for their investment in Louisiana, to tell them about improvements Louisiana has made in order to help expand business investment in our state and, also, to listen and receive important feedback from them about areas that Louisiana can improve upon to better enable the state to compete in a global economy,” McKeithen said.
