- "What's Your Excuse?" Campaign
The U.S. Department of Energy, in partnership with the Ad Council, is launching a campaign bringing the energy efficiency message to a new generation of energy conscious consumers - tweens! The objective of the campaign is to inspire a movement among tweens (preteens 8-12 years old) and their parents by establishing positive energy efficiency habits that will reduce demands on overall energy consumption. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released new lesson plans for teachers, parents, and community leaders to use in educating our nation's youngest energy users about the benefits of saving energy. These curricula can help teach children of any age about energy efficiency, but are especially beneficial to use in districts undergoing energy-saving upgrades. Energy-saving retrofits, LEED certification, and other projects at schools make great learning opportunities for the most important members of the school community—the students.
