La. Mineral Lease Sale in January Brings $2.2 Million

January 12, 2011—The State Mineral and Energy Board, on Wednesday conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.

The Board collected more than $2.2 million in bonuses in the January mineral lease sale, bringing the total collected for FY 10-11 to more than $23.8 million. For the calendar year, the total is more than $2.2 million.

At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 22 leases covering more than 5,200 acres, out of 58 nominated tracts covering more than 79,000 acres. The Board sold leases in Acadia, Allen, DeSoto, Jefferson, Lafourche, Red River, Sabine, St. Mary and Vermilion parishes. Of the 22 tracts awarded, three were in north Louisiana and 19 were located in the southern parishes.
